On behalf of the Institute of Nursing, the following announcement provides clarification
regarding accreditation of the BCC Nursing programs, and ensures accurate information
is provided to current/potential students:
The Nursing programs at BCC — Registered Nursing, Transition to Registered Nursing,
Practical Nursing and Patient Care Assistant (Certified Nursing Assistant) — are all
currently approved by the Florida Board of Nursing (Department of Health). Approval
by the state is all that is REQUIRED to be eligible for nursing licensure by the National
Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). Additional accreditation by the National
League of Nursing Accreditation Council (NLNAC) is OPTIONAL. Please be assured that
BCC’s Nursing programs prepare students for licensure as Nurses and convey the appropriate
standards and skills that students will need as a responsible member of their profession.
As with any health program, students interested in re-locating to another state must
ensure that they meet the appropriate guidelines to practice in that State. The college
is currently in the application process for NLNAC accreditation, but, again, this
is not required. If you have any concerns, please contact Nancy Montgomery via email
at Montgomeryn@brevardcc.edu.
The Institute of Nursing operates districtwide, offering course work on the Cocoa, Palm Bay and Titusville campuses, with its headquarters on the Cocoa Campus.
We offer the associate nursing degree, transitional associate nursing degree, practical nursing, surgical technology, patient care assistant and medical assistant programs. The Institute of Nursing also includes a regional training center for the American Heart Association.
The campus provides state-of-the-art classrooms and clinical laboratory facilities where students learn to apply their specialized skills. Human Patient Simulation Technology is utilized throughout the curriculum so students can practice their newly learned skill and see the consequences of their actions before they work on a live patient.

Course work within the Institute of Nursing can lead to either an Associate of Science Degree or Postsecondary Vocational Certificate. Continuing education courses are also offered on a wide array of health-related topics. Many emergency first aid and CPR classes are available through the American Heart Association.
Many programs in the Institute of Nursing offer coursework in the hybrid and online format. For program information, including application deadlines, click Programs.
Please note we no longer accept paper applications. After submitting your application, print a copy of the submission and take it to the Cashier's Office when you pay your $25.00 application fee. They will ask to see the application to verify that you have submitted it online before they take payment. No application will be processed unless payment has been made.

Student Accident/Liability Insurance is required to be purchased by all BCC students who are joining an Institute of Nursing program. The total fee is $26.50 and is due at the beginning of the term – prior to students being allowed to attend the clinical/lab setting. This fee must be paid every year the student is in the program. It is the student's responsibility to pay this fee and provide a receipt of proof to either the Program Coordinator or Administrative Assistant for the program they are attending.
Should students need to make a claim, they can obtain claim forms and information from their instructors or download a PDF copy below.
