The Brevard Community College Foundation, Inc. offers hundreds of scholarships to BCC students every term! New scholarships are added all semester long. The BCC Foundation utilizes a completely online scholarship system to advertise and award Foundation scholarships, which ensures all scholarships are advertised equitably to all BCC students. The online scholarship application system can be accessed from any computer with internet access, including at each campus library and computer lab.

Applying for a BCC Scholarship

Step 1:  Be accepted into BCC and obtain your Student ID Number.

You need to meet all admission requirements, be accepted and have received your official Student ID Number before you can move to the next step and apply for financial aid and scholarships. You’ll find BCC’s Enrollment Steps under the Admissions tab on this website.

Step 2:  Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

This is the required first step to qualify for all financial aid, including scholarships. In order to access the online FAFSA application, please visit the FAFSA web site. If you have questions or need help with the FAFSA, contact the BCC Financial Aid office on your campus:

Step 3:  Gather your required documents in preparation for submitting your online scholarship application.

In order to be eligible for Foundation scholarships, you will need your most recent transcript. This transcript does not need to be an official (sealed) transcript. It can be printed or saved from FLVC.org, formerly known as facts.org. If your transcript for the current semester will not be available prior to the posted scholarship deadline, you can upload a copy of your transcript from the previous semester. If you are attending college for the first time, contact your high school for a copy of your high school transcript.

One reference letter is also required to be eligible for Foundation scholarships. Your reference letter should be dated, no older than 90 days, signed and include the contact information for the person providing the reference. The letter can either be a personal or professional recommendation. Form letters and letters from family members are not acceptable. You’ll need to scan the letter to submit it electronically. The Foundation office has a computer area set up to assist students who may need assistance with this or any of the application steps.

You will be required to upload your FAFSA Student Aid Report (SAR). A digital version is usually emailed to you after you have completed your FAFSA application.  You may also download a copy from the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

Step 4:  Log-in to the Foundation’s online scholarship system and complete your application.

You must complete a BCC Foundation online scholarship application electronically to be considered for any scholarships. Printed applications are no longer accepted. The login link box is in the left column. Here is what top expect once you log in.

STARS Home Page

Write down your user name and password so you can check the status of your application, make edits to your profile later and login to apply for scholarships each semester.

Personal Information
In the email address field, be sure to provide your most reliable and frequently-checked email address. (Current Brevard Community College students should consider using their student email account.) All communication regarding the scholarship application process will be sent to the email address you provide.

Your student ID number is the seven-digit number beginning with B. You will only have an ID number if you've been accepted to the College. If you're an existing Brevard Community College student and don't know your ID number, select "Click here to apply for a Student ID #."

Opening Questionnaire
Your answers to these questions will help generate a customized list of recommended scholarships at the end of the application process. One of the questions asks if you have a current FAFSA on file. You will not be able to apply for Foundation scholarships until you can answer "yes" to this question.

Academic Information
In this section, you will answer questions about the high school you attended, whether or not you are a current BCC student, your expected or actual graduation date and your intended program of study. The Foundation will use your current GPA listed in the BCC online records system to determine awards. It’s your responsibility to make sure your official final transcripts are received by the BCC Admissions Office.

Free-Form Essay Questions
These questions will allow donors and scholarship committee members to get a glimpse of who you are and how serious you are about your education. If you have an existing college essay or personal statement, you may copy and paste it from a Word document. Do not leave this section blank.

Your essay should be well-written and free of spelling and grammatical errors. Scholarship committees will score the quality of your essay. The College has resources available to assist you in writing your scholarship essay. Contact your campus Learning Lab or visit the online writing lab. You can find tips on writing your scholarship essay at our Scholarship Essay Tips page.
