Brevard Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges — known as SACS — to award the Associate in Arts, Associate in Science, Associate in Applied Science and Bachelor of Applied Science degrees. BCC also awards College Credit Certificates and Postsecondary Adult Vocational Certificates. The Commission should be contacted only if there is evidence that appears to support an institution's non-compliance with an accreditation requirement or standard.

BCC was granted initial accreditation by SACS in 1965 and received reaffirmation in 1973, 1983, 1993 and 2003. The purpose of these pages is to apprise the BCC academic community of progress on our reaffirmation of accreditation for 2014 under the Principles of Accreditation: Foundations for Quality Enhancement for the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on College.

The timeline below highlights important milestones in our journey toward reaffirmation. This website will be used to provide updates about the SACS efforts that are underway across the College.

SACS Milestones

• Orientation of Leadership Teams in Atlanta: Jan. 30, 2012

• Compliance Certification Due: Mar. 15, 2013

• Off-Site Peer Review Concluded: May 7-10, 2013

• Quality Enhancement Plan Due (and optional Focused Report): 4-6 weeks in advance of On-Site Review (Fall, 2013)

• On-Site Peer Review Conducted: Sept. 9 - Nov. 15, 2013

• Review by the Commission on Colleges: June 17-19, 2014 (tentative dates)
